Upper Primary
Ages: 9 to 11 | Years 4 – 6
School Hours: 7:15 AM – 1:15 PM (Saturday – Wednesday)
Our Upper Primary programme is designed to build on the strong foundation established in Lower Primary, offering a more advanced and comprehensive curriculum for children aged 9 to 11. Our Upper Primary curriculum not only continues to develop essential skills but also introduces new subjects to broaden our students’ knowledge and experiences.
Key Focus Areas:
Languages:
Af-Soomaali: Continuing to enhance proficiency in the Somali language to preserve cultural heritage.
English & Arabic: Strengthening the foundation in English and Arabic languages
Mathematics:
Advancing mathematical principles and problem-solving techniques.
Sciences:
Introducing fundamental scientific concepts to foster curiosity and critical thinking.
Islamic Teaching:
Introducing balanced religious education to instill strong moral and ethical values.
Computer Programming:
At Year 4, students master the basics of computers, and start experimenting programming, developing simple games, integrating codes with technology such as Arduino electronic boards. By the end of the Upper Primary, children shall be able to develop own basic applications and websites.
Design and Technology:
In addition to programming, children explore creativity and practical skills in
design and technology. Their focus is why technology affects our lives,
and how it can contribute to human advancement.
Social Studies:
This is where students gain a broader understanding of history, geography, and
social systems, guiding them to understand and arrive own perspectives
on matters of global and regional importance.
Sports Activities and Other Clubs:
Encouraging physical activity and the exploration of various interests including
martial arts, debate and research clubs.
